What to Wear
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in (tracksuit bottoms/leggings, tank top/t-shirt) no shoes required … we always work barefoot.
When should I arrive?
5-10 mins. before the class is due to start so you can begin to relax. If it’s your first time, you will also be asked to fill in a brief Health Questionnaire.
What if I have an injury or medical condition?
Always consult your doctor first.
How do I pay? Do I have to book a course?
Nope. Just drop in and pay me when you arrive at the class.
Do I need to bring a mat?
Mats are provided at Truro classes but you will need to bring your own mat to St Mawes classes.
Any sports shop sells Pilates and yoga mats or you can buy online. (I get mine at www.yogamatters.com if that helps.)
What is yoga?
Yoga improves your strength, your flexibility and ‘calms the fluctuations of the mind’. Pantanjali said that last bit and he’s pretty important in the world of all things yogic. You connect with your body to gain flexibility of the mind.
What if my back/hip/little toe hurts?
Always consult your doctor first, and stop if you experience pain.
What if I don’t like it?
There are so many different styles of yoga, there’s almost definitely one for you.
What if I’m pregnant?
Always consult your doctor first. Restorative yoga classes are probably more suitable for you.
How do I get started?
Ideally, come to one of my Basics courses, or take a beginner’s private lesson with me first, if you are brand new to yoga. But if you have practised a little yoga before, just drop in to my regular classes and take the less challenging options for a few weeks until you get up to speed.
Is it physical or will I be sitting around for ages?
My regular classes tend to be fairly dynamic but never strenuous. We usually start off with a gentle warm up, go into Sun Salutations and standing poses to get the heart pumping, then we’ll take it down onto the mat for the second half. We always end with deep relaxation so you leave the class feeling revived and refreshed.
What if I am not good enough?
You are never going to be good enough. You are already beyond good enough. See you there!
