Oh, and did I mention happiness?
Now, you’ve got to agree, that’s a pretty magical workout!
Here are just some of the physical benefits:
Dig the garden without back ache….Yoga improves strength, muscle tone, flexibility, range of motion and balance. This means you will look good and feel good in your body, and become less likely to injure yourself in sports or your regular activities, like digging the garden.
Dance like a wild thing at the Christmas party…..Yoga helps to reduce risk factors for chronic diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure.
Sleep like a baby….. It can also help alleviate depression, pain, anxiety and insomnia.
There are huge mental and emotional benefits too:
Feel less stressed at your desk…. Yoga reduces stress levels, strengthens the nervous system, and calms the mind.
Jump for joy on a regular basis…. Yoga encourages greater inner awareness and makes you feel happy.
But this whole feel-good thing doesn’t just stop at the end of the class. Pretty soon, it starts to follow you off the mat and into your daily life. You start to connect to all parts of yourself, to others, and to everything around you. . . and slowly but surely, the world opens up and becomes a far more enjoyable place.
The way I see it, yoga benefits you physically, mentally, and emotionally to help you live life to the fullest. It’s a lifetime process … allowing you to live BIG, feel joyful and be free.
